While traveling in India 2012, I got the opportunity to photograph Tibetan nuns in the Himalayan region, debating.
It was quite an experience to see the joy, determination and fulfillment in the faces and expressions of the ladies while studying, debating about Tibetan Philosophy and socialising during the days I stayed with them. It is interesting to read the text from the descriptions from The Nuns Project:
"Debate is a major part of the study method. It pushes everyone to try to really understand the meaning of the texts and forms thoughtful and articulate scholars.
Until recently in the history of the world, women have not been given the same opportunities to study as men".
